Hello Grade Fives,
Over the past few weeks, we have been learning about the sturgeon: appearance, feeding practice, habitat and the recovery program. I would like you to tell me what you think we, as individuals, could do to help the sturgeon population increase and become sustainable.
Please think about what you have heard and read before writing your response.

I think we can increase the population by releasing sturgeon and by spreading the word that they are endangered and try not to catch sturgeon when u r fishing and if fisherman do catch sturgeon they should release it as fast as they can.
To help the sturgeon we could.....
We could try to stop polluting the waters. We could also stop building dams, and help them spawn. I also think that leaving more water and stop constructing so many buildings.
I think we can inctrease the populaion catch sturgeon and let them have babies.
To catch the sturgeon and breed them. then we release them back in the wild.We could banned gill nets and ask the fisher men to use live traps.If they catch any surgeon they have to relese them.

We could help to not pollut our wold with garbage and toxics because it will efect everything in it.

you could have a club and clean up the park. and there is a reward. if you clean up for a day and video tape it(on a video camera)there is a thing called "give a disney day"

i think that if more people went to help and run more hatcherys so that the sturgeon have a better chance of survival. stop polluting the water. and do not stop their runs to their spawning area.
I think we shoud capture alot of sturgeon and bring them to there
desanation.And we could take all the nets out of the water.

cech some of the sturgeon and let the mother sturgeon lay its eggs and then rase the sturgeon and keep doing it un tell the sturgeon population incease.do not litter,logging trucks keep the oil in the oil can.take care of our rivers.having the fishers slow done on how puch fish they cech.
To help the sturgeon population increase,We could stop polluting,stop building Houses on the river, stop fishing, and maybe stop releasing sturgeon for a while, untill the population increases. to find out more we could maybe we could put a camara on a sturgeon and find out what is happening.

We shood help do reaserch on them.And stop fishing them.
As an individual I can for one go on the shores of the river and pock up the garbage people have dropped (to make sure that nothing goes in to the river). I can also help by not poluting and throwing garbage ( not just by the river, because the wind can blow it into the river). I can also try not to lose any fishing line in the river.
I think hobos are hunting sturgeon. so we shal giv hobos a home. so we can have sturgeon.
write an artical about the sturgeon recovery plan & post it to the newsletter & paper.

I think we could make the sturgeon population bigger by not polluting and by not building on their habitat.
I think we could help by cutting back on our pollution, and who knows, maybe global warming is why they arent producing as many eggs. Maybe the climate change is killing some off. But if it's not pollution, if you see a charity for the sturgeon you should donate a few dollars.

I think we could help the sturtgeon by not poluting the air and waters.Like say insted of your mom driving you to school if you live close by town.Try to bike to school.Annd if you r on the water you could just cast inssted of using fuel and poluting.And never throw garbage in the water.only you can help stop poluting.
- dont put oil in the rivers/lakes
-if you clear trees on a hill by a river or a lake re plant trees so it dosent cover the bottom of the lake/river with mud because sturgeon like rocky bottoms
-people should stop cathing them and killing them because they think the surgeon are a problem to the salmon
If there is a hill with no trees and there is lots of rain mud slid's in tothe water were there rocks on the bottom were sturgeon like to spawn.

I think that the sturgeon have'nt been mating until they are fully adults and since theyve been dying it might be hard to find another sturgeon
I think we as induviguals we can stop throwing garbage in the rivers and lakes. Go to sturgeon releses and no populating.
I think we can help the sturgeon by going to stugeon releses. stop throwing trash in the river.Try to get them to spawn
I think that I could help the sturgeon by cuting down on the tubeing with the boat and stop polluting.

I think we should give homeless a home because they mite be caching sturgeon for food. stop polluting.
