2. Who were the first peoples?

3. What are the correct names for these first peoples?

4. How did the French influence our Canadian culture, and what examples do we see today?

Who were the first peoples?

The First Nations and the Inuit were here a long time ago. They were the original inhabitants of Canada. They were here before highways and cities or even cars. So they had to live off the land. They would build houses out of lumber and they would use skins for clothing. They had to hunt. They couldn’t just walk to the super store and buy food. They hunted buffalo, deer they fished as well. The Arctic Copper Inuit hunted seals for food. In the Pacific Coast they harpoon whales. In Eastern Canada they grew crops of corn. Each parts of the provided a living for the First Nations and Inuit.
